Happy January Everyone!

I hope everyone's 2018 is off to a fabulous start.  I danced my way into the New Year at my favorite place to go out, The Jane Hotel.  My photographer friend Luc and I wanted to shoot something vintage and at a location that offered throwback vibes.  The New York Transit Museum was just the place!  This adorable museum is located underground in Brooklyn and holds many old saved and remade train cars to show you transportation throughout the years!

I am a humungous history nerd so I automatically fell in love with the oldest cars on the tracks, and loved seeing the old 1940's and 50's ads located at the headboard of the train cars.  The seats looked so different and offered such a classic touch as you can see in my shoot here.  I chose to go with warm Fall/Winter tones to accent the old feel of the cars.  This multicolored sweater was one of my favorite all time finds from Free People a few years ago, and I have some similar ones linked below!  Simple striped T-Shirt from Nordstrom & my favorite black jeans from Marshalls!  Of course, tis the season of Over the Knee boots, and I snagged these at Nordstrom on Sale Steve Madden.  Xo  Shop Below!

Luc teased me about my large prop bag that I cart around with me to all my shoots-a girl has got to have options!  I love love props and things I can hold in shoots to bring them more to life and not look so stoic.  I snagged these vintage style hats from Versona and Nordstrom.  I love me a Newsboy/Fiddler hat like the tan one showed below, but also embraced a classier feel with the maroon flowered fedora above.  If you know me at all by now, you know I love a good hat!

Fun Fact: this book that I am holding aboce is turning out to be one of my favorite reads!  It is a fabulous historical fiction book called: Forever by Pete Hamill.  I won't give too much away, but sneak attack-the main character is immortal!  The book follows the birth of New York all the way throughout the years to what it is now through the eyes of this character.  Needless to say I am only half way through it and recommend it whole-heartedly!  You can purchase the book below.

Since I am an avid reader, and you all seem to check in and read here, I would love to start a Book Club if anyone interested shoot me an Email and we can create an online Book sharing experience!  Back to the shoot, I am crazy for this burnt orange no sleeved turtleneck.  I grabbed it at a Forever 21.  I think these warm colors look fabulous on everyone and really bring out one's skin tone in a flattering way.  LAst but not least, the striped short sleeved top underneath was a steal from Forever 21 as well, I make sure to get lots of fun affordable staple pieces there and accent them with more snazzy items.

Needless to say, the New York Transit Museum was a fabulous day trip!  If you are heading to New York for a few days and love history or want to do something different than Times Square or Rockefeller Plaza, I urge you to check this little gem out!  It is also fun to get lost around this part of Brooklyn and see the adorable cafes and restaurants that surround the museum.  I even stumbled across a Cat Cafe!  You know I'm a Cat Lady, and sadly the cafe was closed but you know I'm running back there when it's open! Xo
